‘Gharge’ is a very traditional sweet from Karnataka that slowly is getting lost in time.
I love this sweet for :its a sweet made with few ingredients and preparation time is also very less time(approx 15 min ).
Its just so yummy —its not too sweet and it stays well for a couple of days with out refrigeration.
1 Small Pumpkin
1/2 cup Jaggery
1/4 cup Wheat flour
Vegetable oil to fry
1.Peel and grate the pumpkin up to 1 cup.
2.In a kadai, add the grated the pumpkin and roast for 5 min. Then add jaggery and cook together.
3.Once the pumpkin is cooked, all the water is completely reduced and low the heat.
4.Mix the wheat flour to the pumpkin mixture until resembles like a dough and cook for a minute and allow to cool.
5.Once cooled, take a small ball of dough on a plastic sheet and pat into a small vada shape with hand.
6.Heat the oil and fry the sweet pumpkin vada until turns to golden brown color.
7.Drain the oil on a tissue paper and serve.
Gharge can be consumed immediately or can easily be stored for 10-15 days at room temperature.
